MOM, I HEAR SOMETHING

Every car beep, bird chirp, person talking, hint of music, or unexplained sound outside...

empire records

Sleepovers at Jamie's house (with Empire Records on an endless loop!)... You can't top the pure comfort of being in a friend's home for a sleepover in the 90's... No responsibilities, no bills, beautiful summer nights, parents snoring upstairs, and your only worries are calculus and boys...

...this post is part of a memory series I've been thinking about for a while, but haven't had a chance to get started on. Work has been incredibly fun (and busy!) lately, so I haven't had a ton of spare time to work on my own stuff, but last night I had the unshakeable urge to sketch and took 4 hours out of my sleep-time to create a few of these memory sketches. I hope you enjoy them... they are small mental snapshots that I want to have cached for safe-keeping. I love my brain and all, but sometimes she needs a back-up drive...

Ack!

— I haven't posted new art in ages! Must work on my time management so that I can create/post even when things get nutty!

The past few months have been a blur of coffee and RedBull and all-nighter college-type insanity that my older body is not down with...

BUT - that said - I am soooo very happy that work keeps pouring in and has been keeping me on my toes. It takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but overall - I still looove being a freelancer!

Recent projects (that have since been printed & are now available to show) include my second direct mailer for Aquent / Vitamin T which highlights their Talent Bridge benefit (3mo freelance-to-hire). Talent Bridge allows clients to find a candidate that fits their team on all levels before making a more permanent commitment. A stress-free way to find their missing piece:

And, I've completed my 4th collaboration with author, Matthew Mainster. His third Giggleswick book (The Book of Secrets) concludes his first trilogy for middle-grade readers. I have been lucky enough to illustrate the covers and interiors for the series... Here is a small peek at the final book:

It's a fast-paced, thrilling end to a truly magical series. I hope you'll check it out on paperback or Kindle (however you prefer to digest your books) here!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my update - more to come soon!
